The arrest comes after police were dispatched to the residence on Toby’s Lane late in the evening on April 30 for a report of a domestic disturbance. While on the scene, officers observed the marijuana grow operation in plain sight on the first floor of the home, New Canaan Police said.
Michael Leeds, 49, was charged with third-degree assault, disorderly conduct, and reckless endangerment in connection with the domestic incident, police said.
The grow operation, which occupied two rooms at the home, included irrigation systems, heat lamps, ventilation duct and multiple marijuana plants being cultivated, according to police. The total amount of marijuana seized was about 5 pounds, said police.
The New Canaan Police Investigative Section also obtained a search warrant and found more items related to the drug factory, officials said.
Leeds surrendered to police on an active arrest warrant at about 3:15 p.m. on Thursday, June 13.
He was released on $75,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in state Superior Court in Norwalk on Tuesday, June 25.
